My name is Kimberlee Kelly and I live in Los Angeles. I am a political scientist turned educator, who is passionate about equitable education through digital learning. I deeply believe with the right mindset and innovative tools, we change the world as we know it through a free, accessible, flexible, differentiated, and self-paced digital education for all.
With 6 years of studies on the Middle East/North Africa, including the American University in Cairo, I decided to join Teach for America (2011) and make a difference on the home front. I have spent the last 4 years serving in under-resourced communities like South Central and Watts, working to close the achievement gap through a blended learning "Cloud Classroom" pedagogy, I developed during my Master's thesis. My heart, still lies in the global community though.
I am a community organizer with Leadership for Education Equity, a Digital Learning Director and Blended Learning Human Geography at an Alliance Public Ready-School site, a Digital Integration coach for new Teach for America corps members and the marketing director for TEDxLoyolaMarymountU-- an education based TEDx event in Los Angeles. You can say I'm pretty well intrenched in the Digital Learning/Education community! lolol You can take a step into my online classrooms by following my links, join my Cloud Classroom Google+ community, and/or follow me/my students on my Facebook and Twitter.
My goal here is to have my pulse on the Global Learning community, so I can both contribute and grow from the collective minds working to solve one of the greatest challenges of our time-- equal education. I'd like to network with advocates, developers, designers, teachers, translators, scientists, and anyone else invested in this community to help collaborate on a concept that surely has the ability to change lives in communities the world over.
Excited to be a part of this, and looking forward to getting involved in discussion.
